Empty Tears

They hit my pillow at night,
With a hollow empty sound.
The only thing left in my heart,
Is this emptiness I’ve found.

No more laughter is left,
No more joy to fill my world,
Laying quietly in my lonely bed,
Against your old pillow curled.

Rereading all of the letters,
Of once happier times spent,
My views of Happily Ever After,
Now broken, distorted, and bent.

Although I face the world,
Surrounded by broken mirrors,
I walk on thinking of you,
Followed by the stains of empty tears.

My Own House of Mirrors

A reflection stairs back at me,
With lightly happy younger eyes.
A glimpse into a past of mine,
Before the sound of empty cries.

I turn back to my journey,
Stumbling through this maze of time.
Feeling a deep heaviness in my soul,
With this guilt of an unknown crime.

Flashes of emotions on my left and right,
Quietly telling me the stories of my life.
Guiding me over the hills I’ve lived,
Not loosing sight of a forgotten strife.

A vision of a blue house,
That enveloped all my dreams of youth.
Seeing the lessons I learned there,
Missing some unspoken truth.

More scenes come to view and fade,
As my feet follow a single road.
The pictures seem to guide me onward,
Following directions I was never told.

Walking down these never ending halls,
These endless rows of restless reflections.
I’m left with a haunting tainted vision,
With no one to hear my silent objections.

Blindly following the sound of my feet,
Masked with a smile and cradled in tears.
I’ll wonder on alone in my halls,
In this, my own house of mirrors.

A Little Ones Dreams

Posted: 31st July 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Thought Provoking

Asleep in his bed,
The young boy flies,
As dreams fill his little head,
His imagination on the rise.

He’ll go places,
That no ones every seen,
And he’ll fly with aces,
Where no ones ever been.

In this world of dream,
There are no pointless bounds,
Here it is as it does seem,
Here reality does not hound.

A place of peace,
A place of pure fun,
Where the laughter doesn’t cease,
And neither does the sun.

Universes without number,
Inside this little ones head,
Come alive in his slumber,
Tucked safely in his bed.

Vacation In a Box

A beautiful sunny day,
With the rolling ocean waves,
Sitting in the soft sand,
Trusting in come what may.

Feeling the all the warmth,
Of the soft yellow beams,
Fading away from reality,
Loosing us in dreams.

Gaining an understanding,
That we both already know,
Never hiding again,
Letting the inside show.

Running from this life,
But embracing every day,
Accomplishing what needs doing,
While leaving time to play.

A vacation in a box,
In a circle made of gold,
Ignoring our minds,
Doing what our hearts were told.

Look Inside

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Inspirational Poems

Looking back on the times,
That have past me by,
I see so many missed things,
But to make amends, why try?

All of our pasts,
Have a common trait,
To teach us to look forward,
Not to leave our lives to fate.

Each of us controls our own,
We make ourselves what we are,
You need not cross great waters,
Nor look to lands a far.

What we are is deep within,
What we are is something inside,
It may be hard to find,
But it is even harder to hide.

Look inside your own soul,
To the question of life at hand,
And you’ll find the answers as abundant,
As all the grains of sand.

Forgotten Love

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Love Poems

You told me not to chase my dreams,
That I would leave the world behind,
But that gave me the drive,
In every way I could find.

So I chased my life,
And left that small town.
But my heart was broken,
When loneliness is what I found.

I didn’t know losing the world,
Meant you would go to.
Now I see what was meant,
When you told me what to do.

Inside my new found home,
The door is always there.
I sit on the other side,
Reciting my silent prayer.

I chased the wrong life,
Because your no where around,
And my heart was broken,
When a forgotten love is what I found.

In The End

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Thought Provoking

Is time still passing?
I’ve lost count of the days.
I’m tiring of this life,
And the simple games it plays.

So how are you doing?
It’s been awhile since we talked.
Did you forget about me,
On this path that you walked.

I heard your doing well,
That you followed your dreams.
Life has handed you your silver spoon,
Or at least that is how it seems.

But what about your heart?
Did it fall in love again?
Or do you run away from love,
And play games with your men?

Do you remember what we had?
Does it ever cross your mind?
Do you miss the past?
Or do you look back blind?

I know your heart once loved me,
But that time faded away,
While you were out finding life,
I tripped and lost my way.

It’s good to here from you,
But isn’t it ironic my dear…
That the path that took you away,
In the end led you right back here?

House of the Mime

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Thought Provoking

I sit here and I wonder,
What your doing now?
I tried to call you yesterday,
Expecting you to answer some how.

The hallway seems a little darker now,
Without your glow inside our home.
When I close my eyes at night,
I loose myself in that grey stone.

Your name left lingering,
Haunting my thoughts and mind.
Trying to remember the happier times,
Leaving the bad far behind.

I talked to your family today,
I had to watch your brother cry.
You left us here wondering,
Why, why it was you who had to die?

I don’t sleep in our bed anymore,
The couch is where I spend my time.
The quiet sound of a heart break,
Can be heard in this house of the mime.

You Were Mine For a Day

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Featured, Love Poems

They say we all get,
Our fifteen minutes of fame,
Some do it honestly,
Other bare it in shame.

Some take to the music,
Others play on the screen,
I took to love’s path,
And painted my dream.

With a palette of life’s colors,
And a brush I stole from fate,
I created my hearts vision,
Only a moment too late.

When I painted your eyes,
I stole the Caribbean’s blue,
Lightly streaking through your hair,
As the Oceans wind blew.

A picture of God’s angels,
Is where I stole your smile.
Creating you inside my head,
Falling for you all the while.

I lingered in my dreams,
Until I got your body right.
My breath silently held back,
As I took you in my sight.

You take your life’s first breath,
And look so deeply into me.
My picture is now painted.
Your soul is now set free.

The final gift to you I give,
Was shot from Cupid as a dart.
Inside your perfect being,
I place my fiery heart.

You smile at me and wave,
And trust in come what may.
I smile while you leave and know,
That you were mine for a day.

Our Little Place

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Featured, Inspirational Poems

I know a little place,
Where time slows down.
A sleepy little lake,
Where troubles can’t be found.

Where the shadows of the sunset,
Hide the worries you brought,
And all those hanging battles,
Have no need to be fought.

Where families come to play,
And boats come to swim.
And parking the RV,
Involves the trimming of a limb.

A place where bonds are started,
Or made deeper by the day.
A place where once you visit,
Your heart will always stay.

A quiet little place,
With arms open so wide,
To welcome all who come,
To the happiness it hides.

Still?

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Love Poems

If the snow would fall in June,
If the sun went round the moon,
If all that is simple went a frill,
Would you love me still?

If that which is right somehow went wrong,
If all the music disappeared and left no song,
If there was no food for a meal,
Would you still love me still?

If all in life went a skew,
If you knew I stilled loved you,
With nothing but those words to seal,
Would you love me still?

The Roads That Don’t Lead Back

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Thought Provoking

The path life leads us down,
Is not always what we’d choose.
We’ve no real foresight to guide us,
No knowledge of what we’ll loose.

But we wonder on blindly,
Down this winding, weary path.
Learning along the way,
How to cry and how to laugh.

And when a crossroads come,
There’s only one way we can go.
We can not take them both,
Forward is Time’s only flow.

Sometimes the path we choose,
Can’t be taken by our friend.
So we pray that this meeting,
Is not the last before the end.

Often times the path turns round,
And we seem them once again.
But when the roads don’t lead back,
Forever we’ll miss our friend.

Once Upon Another Life

Posted: 30th June 2009 by Timothy A. Rhoades in Love Poems

Feeling the warmth,
Of you hand in mine.
The gaining of closeness,
From trials left behind.

That look in your eye,
That took me so far away.
That piece of my heart lost,
When you said “I can’t stay”.

A happiness remembered,
From a time spent with you…
Once upon another life,
Before my world was so blue.

Softly whispered heart breaks,
Still echoing through my mind.
So many memories in hindsight,
That should have been a sign.

But my heart is now torn,
Between the present and a golden field…
From once upon another life,
Where together our love we sealed.

With all the heavens watching,
We took that lovers leap.
To a place we couldn’t understand,
To feeling that was too deep.

I held on too long,
Even though I knew you let go.
Hoping to prove it all wrong…
Staying stagnant in life’s flow.

Now I can’t move forward,
And it hurts too much to look back…
To once upon another life,
Before my heart was black.

How much longer will it take,
For me to finally accept…
That once upon another life,
Is never coming back.
